We’re back at the Crescent Arts Centre this month with a special edition for the Belfast Book Festival, marking the bicentenary of gothic classic Frankenstein.

Trapped in the icy waters of the Arctic, a group of explorers come across a scientist travelling solo. Victor Frankenstein is a man haunted by his own Creation – a homicidal man-made man driven by desire and revenge.
Join CinePunked as they celebrate 200 years of Mary Shelley’s classic novel with a screening of Kenneth Branagh’s version of Frankenstein. Regarded by many as the most faithful adaptation of the story, and packed with an all-star cast including Helena Bonham Carter, Ian Holm, John Cleese, Robert De Niro as The Creation and Branagh as Frankenstein himself.
After the film CinePunked will host an interactive panel discussion about the film and Mary Shelley’s influence on gothic horror and science fiction, and the cinematic versions of her work. Featuring CinePunked’s own Robert JE Simpson and Dr Rachael Kelly with returning guest Dr Raymond Cummings. Audience participation is encouraged.
