VOYAGE OF THE BANNED
CinePunked and Accidental Theatre are pleased to announce details of the new season of film screenings and discussions in the Never Seen It Film Club strand held at Accidental Theatre, Belfast.
This season we are taking a trip to the taboo, presenting a series of previously banned and controversial films on the big screen!
From illicit love to depictions of death, from fanatical faith to ultra-violence, these are provocative films which have all been deemed prohibited by local and national authorities at some point in their history.
For the first season of 2025 the program has been curated by CinePunked’s Robert JE Simpson, and aims to raise questions about our changing morality, censorship and access.
Alongside the screenings, CinePunked will be leading additional post-screening interactive discussions with audiences exploring some of the themes raised, with conversations recorded for podcast release via CinePunked.

The monthly programme looks like this:
26 January 2025 – Frankenstein (dir. James Whale, 1931)
14 February 2025 – In the Realm of the Senses (aka. Ai no Korīda) (dir. Nagisa Ōshima, 1976)
23 February 2025 – Glen or Glenda (dir. Edward D Wood Jr, 1953)
30 March 2025 – Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (aka. Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma) (dir. Pier Paolo Pasolini, 1975)
27 April 2025 – The Devils (dir. Ken Russell, 1971)
25 May 2025 – Des Morts (aka. Of the Dead) (dir. Thierry Zéno, 1979)
29 June 2025 – A Clockwork Orange (dir. Stanley Kubrick, 1971)
Screenings take place at Accidental Theatre, 12-13 Shaftesbury Square, Belfast, BT2 7DB and start at 6pm.

About Never Seen it Film Club
Never Seen it Film Club is Accidental Theatre’s subscription membership film club. Films are shows in the main space of Accidental Theatre, with films supplemented by discussions and events catered to our members. NSIFC is run in association with CinePunked and supplemented by the You’ve Never Seen…? podcast co-hosted by Accidental’s Emma Bainbridge and CinePunked’s Robert JE Simpson.
Tickets
NSIFC is designed as a subscription membership as an experiment in building a community around exciting events and finding new ways to support Accidental, the arts and artists. Your membership supports this programme directly and allows it to grow. There are currently two ticket tiers:
£5 – STANDARD MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP – a standard membership that helps cover the basic costs of the club. Payments are automatic after first sign-up and subscriptions are rolling but can be changed via your account on Accidental’s website.
£10 – DONATION MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP – a special membership that gives a little extra to the exceptional and hardworking artists creating the club. Payments are automatic after first sign-up and subscriptions are rolling but can be changed via your Accidental account.
Guest tickets can also be purchased on the door and cost £5.
